Executive Order No. 2736
PROVIDING FOR REQUISITIONING OF FOODS AND FEEDS.
Under and by virtue of an act of Congress, entitled "An act to provide further for the national security and defense by encourag- ing the production, conserving the supply, and controlling the dis- tribution of food products and fuel," approved August 10, 1917, I, Woodrow Wilson, President of the United States, hereby authorize and direct Herbert Hoover, United States Food Administrator, from time to time, to requisition any and all foods and feeds, and storage facilities for the same, that said Herbert Hoover, United States Food Administrator, may deem are necessary for any public use connected with the common defense, other than the support of the Army or the maintenance of the Navy, and to ascertain and pay a just compensation therefor.
Done in the District of Columbia, this twenty-third day of Octo- ber, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and seven- teen, and of the independence of the United States of America, the one hundred and forty-second.
